Paper Title
Exploratory Study on Tourism Creativity and Destination Decision Making: A Case of Picnic Leisure Activities
Abstract
Given the scarcity of current research on picnicking, this study conducted in-depth interviews with 16 participants to delineate the basic profile of picnic consumption. It also identified the characteristics and importance of creativity in the picnic experience, uncovering the relationship between picnic creativity and picnic tourism destinations. In addition to enriching and confirming the picnic consumers' definition of picnic creativity, this study also established the impact of picnic creativity on the picnic experience. Furthermore, adopting a perspective from creative tourism theory, the study re-examined the roles and functions of creativity and participant involvement, contrasting with the past emphasis on industry-led experience design in creative tourism. It found that in consumer-led picnic leisure contexts, picnickers generate unique experiences through their engagement with food and the transformation of picnic sites. In this process, spatial transformations are facilitated by consumers' active participation in creative expressions, ultimately resulting in personalized innovative outputs that enhance consumer satisfaction.
