The Use of ICT In Teaching English at Elementary School’s Lesson Plan: PIC-Rat Model

Abstract
In the twenty-first century, information, communication, and technology (ICT) have drastically changed the most important aspect of education. It is essential for teachers to comprehend how ICT is applied in order to bridge their teaching process in the classroom. However, there is still a deficiency in the use of ICT in education, particularly in terms of resources, preparation, and qualifications for using the new concepts of teaching in Indonesian school lesson plans. Thus, the primary goal of this article is to examine how well instructors at Yogykarta, Indonesia used ICT. There were 30 Junior High Schools’ lesson plan activities at the first grade were analyzed. Moreover, the researcher applied content analysis method to gather data and examined the ICT utilized in the vocabulary lesson plan activities. After collecting the data, the researcher used PIC-RAT model which stands for Passive, Interactive, and Creative while RAT stands for Replace, Amplify, and Transform which used to measure the level of ICT used. However, the applying ICT in 10 elementary schools in 145 activities in the teachers’ lesson plans in PIC-RAT levels could be conclude that passive level was nominated which are Passive replace 34.5 percent, amplify 14 % and passive transform is 10% while Interactive level such as; interactive replace 10%, amplify 20% and Transform 30%.
