INTERLOCKING DIRECTORATES IN CHINA: AN ANALYSIS OF INDUSTRY DYNAMICS, GROWTH PATTERNS, AND INFORMATION TRANSFUSION

Abstract
The current study delves into interlocking directorates across various industries in China spanning the period from 2000 to 2012. Specifically, our objective is to explore the historical evolution of interlocking directorates within these industries and discern differences, including the pace of development and distinctive characteristics inherent to each sector. Our sample encompasses 31 province-level administrative divisions and 23 industries in China. Notably, the real estate, machinery, and financial services sectors have exhibited the most rapid growth. Furthermore, we investigate the transfer of information both within and between industries. Remarkably, our findings reveal a greater prevalence of inter-industry connections compared to intra-industry connections, underscoring the significance of collaborative endeavors with other industries for the self-development of Chinese public companies.
