EXPLORING FINTECH ADOPTION: THE ROLE OF UTAUT MODEL AND DIGITAL FINANCIAL LITERACY AMONG ECONOMICS STUDENTS

Abstract
The digitalization of financial activities underscores the importance of understanding the factors that influence students’ engagement with financial technology (fintech). This study delves into how extending the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model with digital financial literacy impacts students’ intention and actual usage of fintech. Using a quantitative approach, data was gathered from 325 economics students through an online survey distributed via Google Form. The analysis employed Partial Least Squares – Structural Equation Modeling (SEM–PLS) technique. Results indicate a significant positive relationship between performance expectancy, social influence, and facilitating conditions with the intention to adopt fintech, as well as digital financial literacy with both intention and actual usage of fintech. However, effort expectancy didn’t notably influence students’ intention to adopt fintech. The findings underscore the importance of initiatives for financial education aimed at boosting students’ digital financial literacy to promote fintech adoption.
