Abstract
With many SMEs closing business and SMPs being one of their trusted advisors, this study seeks to provide guidance to SMPs in addressing the challenges they face in fulfilling their clients’ needs. Using a three-step research approach to gather data from the scholarly body of knowledge, SMP practitioners and SME managers, the data was triangulated, and 55 guidance steps were developed. The most prominent SMP problems occurred in automation of their services, managing new professional standards and other regulations, other unqualified accountants entering the market, and cash flow.
