Investigating Attitude Towards Science of Pre-Service Elementary School Students Based on Their Educational Background

Abstract
Students of the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program are pre-service teachers who must understand the concept of science well. The attitude of pre-serviceelementary teachers towards science can affect the understanding of science concepts. Therefore, a pre-serviceelementary teacher is expected to have a positive attitude towards science. This study aimed to investigate the attitudes towards natural science among pre-serviceelementary school teachers based on their educational background. This study used a quantitative approach. The type of research used was survey research. This study involved elementary school pre-serviceteacher students in semester 4 as many as 145 students at Yogyakarta State University. The data collection technique in this study used a questionnaire distributed via GoogleForm. Data analysis techniques using descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. The results of this study indicate that based on the previous educational background, pre-serviceelementary school teacher students do not have significant differences in attitudes towards science. Furthermore, the study results show that there is no significant influence between educational background on attitudes towards science of PGSD students at Yogyakarta State University.
