APPLICATION OF VIRTUAL REALITY TOOLS TO TEACH ENGINEERING ECONOMICS AND DECIĀ¬SION-MAKING TOOLS FOR ENGINEERING STUDENTS
Abstract
Abstract - The potential of virtual reality (VR) technology in enhancing educational experiences is evident. This study focuses on creating a VR educational tool specifically designed for teaching engineering economics. The primary objective of the tool is to offer an interactive and immersive learning experience that effectively engages students and aids their comprehension of complex economic concepts.
The development process of the VR tool consisted of various stages. These stages included defining the learning objectives and content, designing a 3D environment, and incorporating interactive elements such as simulations and quizzes. The content was based on the standard engineering economics curriculum, and the tool was intended to supplement traditional classroom teaching methods.
To assess the effectiveness of the VR tool, a pilot study was conducted with a group of engineering students. The study revealed that the tool significantly improved students' understanding of engineering economics concepts and increased their engagement with the subject matter. Students expressed that the VR tool made the learning experience more enjoyable and facilitated their ability to visualize and apply economic concepts in real-world scenarios.
The development of this VR educational tool has several implications for engineering education. Firstly, it presents an innovative and captivating approach to teaching economics that can complement traditional classroom instruction. Additionally, it showcases the potential of VR technology to enhance the educational experience and elevate learning outcomes.
