GREEN ECONOMY AND IT’S APPLICATION TO INDIA
Abstract
Abstract - The term "green economy" refers to an economic system that prioritizes sustainability, environmental protection and social well-being. The green economy has become a debated and important topic within the global economy. There has been both interest and speculation around the green economy and what it means for our day to day life. The term ‘Green Economy’ is an economic concept which captures environmental, social and economic dimensions. The concept implies the need for economic growth while reducing unsustainable pressure on the quality and quantity of our natural resources. The Green economy has over the past few years became a central concept on the global sustainable development agenda. This paper tried to study the application of green economy to India with reference tojob creation, reasons why shift to green economy, principles, barriers to green economy furthergreen economy transition in key sectors like Agriculture, Energy, Transportation, Construction and Waste Managementin India. Today, there are many environmental problems and issues in India. Therefore, there is a need for using alternative model of development known as green economy.
