Paper Title
A Comprehensive Review of the Applications of Solar-Based Hybrid Energy Systems
Abstract
Nowadays, due to environmental issues and global energy crisis [1], there is an urgent need for replacing the fossil fuels with renewables [2]. Also, to cover the fast growing demands in energy sectors mostly in building applications, all energy sources have to be exploited [3]. Renewables are a kind of unlimited and clean source of energies however they are usually considered as a weather-dependent source of energies [4]. As a stand-alone system, they suffer from intermittency, extra costs and low thermal efficiency, which all has prohibited their wide-spread usage. To overcome the problems associated with renewable energy systems, particularly low thermal efficiency and intermittency issues, integration of renewable energy systems with thermal energy storage units have been developed [5]. Furthermore, novel mixture of energy systems has been introduced to make the given energy systems resilient and reliable that is so called hybrid renewable energy system [6]. This paper investigates a deep literature review of the recent paper published in hybrid renewable energy field as well as its applications, utility, optimizing methods, rating and sizing issues and control strategies. More to the point, this review is divided into four essential categories of hybrid renewable energy system which is sizing (using software or using traditional methods), optimization (classical, artificial and hybrid methods), control (centralized, distributed and hybrid control) and energy management (technical objective, economic objective and techno-economic objective).
