LEADERSHIP IN A GLOBALIZING HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT: THE INFLUENCE OF TRANSFORMATIONAL MANAGEMENTAND LEADERSHIP MODEL IN NEPALESE CONTEXT

Abstract
Abstract - In recent decades, the landscape of leadership paradigms has witnessed a notable shift, placing a distinct emphasis on transformational and charismatic leadership styles. These adaptable approaches have demonstrated their efficacy across diverse cultural contexts, particularly within societies characterized by collectivism and strong social bonds. In the context of Nepal's vibrant hospitality and tourism industry, where the forces of globalization are prevalent, effective leadership stands as a paramount ingredient for achieving success. This study's overarching goal has been to comprehensively explore the consequences of embracing transformed leadership styles within Nepal's tourism and hospitality sector. The investigation has encompassed a thorough examination of their impact on staff commitment and engagement, the nuances of leadership challenges specific to this industry, the discernible influence of cultural factors on leadership dynamics, and the formulation of actionable recommendations designed to enhance competitiveness and sustainability. Despite facing challenges such as infrastructural inadequacies, recruitment complexities, and global competition, the findings affirm the potency of transformed leadership styles characterized by attributes such as performance orientation, openness, personal engagement, self-confidence, and an inclination towards unconventional approaches. These leadership paradigms exhibit a positive and robust correlation with elevated levels of staff commitment and engagement. However, it's crucial to acknowledge the continued prevalence of traditional leadership models, driven by deeply rooted hierarchical structures and infrastructural constraints. To navigate these multifaceted challenges effectively, the study advocates a diverse array of strategic initiatives, encompassing leadership development programs, cultural sensitivity training, infrastructure investments, workforce capacity building, innovation cultivation, international collaborations, sustainable practices adoption, professional networking, government engagement, and precise leadership impact measurement mechanisms. The adoption of these multifaceted strategies promises to empower both leaders and organizations operating within Nepal's dynamic tourism and hospitality sector, equipping them to effectively address industry challenges and achieve sustained excellence in the ever-evolving global marketplace.
