THE PREVALENCE AND RISK FACTORS OF POLYPHARMACY OF NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASE IN ELDERLY

Abstract
Abstract - This retrospective study was aimed to examine the risk factors associated with polypharmacy among 600,010Electronic medical records on 22 non-communicable chronicconditions in older adults (aged 60 years and more) outpatients were selected from Data recording operations manual According to the Health information Standard structure Ministry of Public Health Version 2.4 (DAHS_MoPHversion 2.4) of 12 hospitals in Nakhon Phanomprovince, Thailand (2020 –2022).Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, andMultiple logistic regression. The results found that the most of records were female (59.29 %), 60-69 years old (48.47%[rage in age from 60 – 110 years, average age of 71.04 ± 7.86 years]), Hypertension (51.08%) Diabetes mellitus (37.77%), Renal Failure (20.18%),Non-polypharmacy (51.67%) non-Multimorbidity (64.62%) and hospital size: F2 (52.11%). The most risk factors associated with polypharmacy were Ischemic Heart Diseases (ORMH = 7.128 [95%CI = 6.849-7.420, , p < .0001])Rheumatoid Arthritis (ORMH = 7.030 [95%CI = 5.378, 9.190, p < .0001]) Multimorbidity (ORMH = 5.219 [95%CI = 5.159, 5.281, p < .0001]), and Diabetes Mellitus (ORMH = 3.322 [95%CI = 3.286, 3.359, p < .0001]) Keywords- Elderly, Polypharmacy, Multimorbidity, Non-Communicable Disease (NCD)
