IMPACTS OF INTELLECTUAL CAPITAL ON RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT EFFICIENCY AND MARKETABILITY EFFICIENCY OF GLOBAL INNOVATORS

Abstract
Abstract - The intellectual capital (IC) of companies has a substantial influence on both research and development (R&D) efficiency and marketability efficiency. This impact is particularly significant for companies that heavily depend on innovation as their key competitive advantage. The research focuses on global innovating companies from 2015 to 2021 and utilizes two-stage data envelopment analysis and ordinal least square regression to analyze the impact. The study identifies that the mean efficiency results of R&D efficiency are generally lower than that of overall efficiency and marketability efficiency. Human capital, structural capital, and innovation capital have a significant and positive relationship with both R&D efficiency and marketability efficiency, while relational capital has no association with overall efficiency. Overall, this study highlights the importance of IC in enhancing R&D efficiency and marketability efficiency for global innovating companies.
