A STUDY USING A SEMI-STRUCTURED INTERVIEW TO INVESTIGATE THE FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO OBESITY AMONG SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN MALAYSIA

Abstract
Abstract - Based on the National Health and Morbidity Survey (NHMS) 2019, 50.1% Malaysian adults were either overweight or obese. The percentage doubled the rate of findings determined in 2011.In 2011, the cases of childhood obesity were 6.1%. The cases increased to 11.9% in 2015, and it has hiked up to 14.8% in 2019. Obesity is a chronic condition which is caused by the interactions between several factors like diet pattern, environment, sedentary living, physical inactiveness and underlying health issues. This semi-structured interview is conducted to investigate the factors contributing to obesity among the secondary school students in Malaysia. Keywords - Obesity, Factors, Secondary Students
