Paper Title
ARSENIC CONTAMINATION OF NATURAL WATERS OF RACHA-LECHKHUMI AND KVEMO SVANETI REGION OF GEORGIA
Abstract
Abstract - The hydrochemical and microbiological characterization of rivers (Lukhuni and Tskhenistskali), artesian and spring waters in the vicinity of arsenic processing enterprises of Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti region is discussed in the paper. Rivers and artesian waters contaminated with various ingredients have been identified. Sampling points for natural water samples selected from polluted and background sites. Samples of suspended solids and bottom sediments were taken. Arsenic content was determined in water samples. The obtained results are presented in the form of conclusions.Analyzes were carried out using modern methods and equipment that meet and correspond to European standards.Based on the determination of the arsenic concentration of surface, artesian, and drinking water the following conclusions were made:
1.The arsenic hazard index in surface waters (Lukhuni and Tskhenistskali rivers) is less than 1 (HQsw< 1) and is not at risk;
2.The arsenic hazard index in artesian and drinking waters is more than 1 (HQdw>1), these waters are at risk.
