DEVELOPING AND PRACTICING AN ELECTRONIC PICTURE BOOK OF THE HISTORY OF MATHEMATICS FOR ELEMENTARY STUDENTS

Abstract
This project is an action research project that aims todevelop and explore the effectiveness of an electronic picture book of the history ofmathematics suitable for elementary school students. The researcheradjusted the content of the electronic picture book ofhistory of mathematics through continuous reflections.After developing the electronic picture book of history ofmathematicstitled “Mathematics in Japan Culture,” the researcherinvited elementary teachers to use the electronic picturebook of history of mathematics developed by the project toconduct teaching experiments. The project team observed thelessons, recorded students' responses, and gathered teachers’ feedback through questionnaires andinterviews. After reflecting on these observations, the project teammodified the contents of the electronic picture book ofthe history of mathematics to better suit theneeds of elementary school education. The researcheralso put forward research reflections and potential ways to improve the development and practice process for reference byrelevant communities.
