Paper Title
CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION FOR DIGITAL EDUCATION OF ENGINEERING DESIGN STUDENTS
Abstract
Abstract - Product development processes, engineering tools (such as 3D Computer Aided Design or Computer Aided Engineering) and practical industrial projects and problems are important part of Engineering Design lectures and modules. Additional topics such as engineering team work or technical writing are essential parts of the subject as well. This paper describes the results of a series of education projects at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences in Germany relating to the digitalization of Engineering Design lectures. Requirements for the digital education are analysed in the first part. The developed education process framework reflects requirements both for technical and non-technical aspects. A variety of software tools are analysed and linked to the parts of the process framework so that finally it can be implemented into the curriculum. The developed concept is flexible and can be applied both remotely or using blended learning. Experiences and recommendation for project management during framework introduction complement the paper.
