The Phenomenon of Smoke Due to Peat Fires and Solutions in an Effort to Maintain the Health of the Environment

Abstract
Indonesia has wetlands its peatland large enough, namely of 21 million ha. Peat has the potential and problems. The potential of peat is as an alternative land for cultivation. Problems of peat is danger of fire due to the potentially very dry peat as fuel. The chance of fires on peat also gets bigger because it is supported by the natural factor that is long drought due to climate change or is known by the term el nino. Land of fires will cause damage and heavy losses. Studies need to be done to prevent and control the peat fires.
