COPPER (II) COORDINATION POLYMER WITH NEW N-(4-METHYLPYRIMIDIN-2-YL) PYRAZIN-2-AMINE LIGAND: SYNTHESIS, CRYSTAL STRUCTURE, AND PROPERTIES

Abstract
Abstract - New pyrazine- and pyrimidine-modulated oligo-α-pyridylamine ligand N-(4-methylpyrimidin-2-yl)pyrazin-2-amine (Hmpmpza) (1) and its 1D copper(II) coordination polymer (2) have been successfully synthesized and structurally characterized. X-Ray crystallographic studies revealed that complex (2) crystallizes in space group Cc of the monoclinic system. In complex (2), Cu(II) is six-coordinated in an elongated octahedral geometry. The equatorial plane is constructed through three nitrogen atoms, two of which come from one ligand and the third nitrogen atom from the deprotonated amine group of another ligand. The Hmpmpza molecule coordinates with the Cu(II) as a tridentate ligand, in which the pyrimidine and amine group nitrogen atoms link the coordination units to an infinite 1-D straight-chain polymer.
