Paper Title
A MICROBIAL FUEL CELL BASED SENSORICPLATFORM FOR WATER QUALITY MONITORING
Abstract
A Microbial Fuel cell (MFC) based experimental on-field monitoring system was constructed in frame of this study in order to monitor the water quality of natural waters. The system consisted of eight small scale single chamber MFC units and due to their integration into the measurement flow chart, monitoring of the water samples could be performed in a shifted manner on a time scale in a more flexible form. Beside the MFC units an internal control system was also applied, where the major traditional parameters like pH, temperature, salinity, conductivity, turbidity was also supported the validity of the MFC measured data. These parameters were used for the more exact evaluation of the MFC gained. Furthermore with this set-up we were able to manage the relatively slow reaction times of the MFC systems and by that we made one step closer to the on-field application of MFC based sensoric systems.
