MERARIQ TRADITION IN THE CONCEPT OF MARRIAGE OF SASAK PEOPLE IN INDONESIA

Abstract
Abstract - Marriage is something sacred and formal to form a family. Before marriage, we recognize the existence of premarital, carried out with customs and traditions passed down from generation to generation from ancestors. Uniquely this premarital tradition is different from traditions in general. This tradition is tradition that was built to obtain approval or blessing from parents and maintain the culture of the Sasak tribe. This tradition invites pros and cons from religious leaders. As is known, the majority of Sasak tribe adheres to Islam. Apart from these pros and cons, the author examines how the merariq tradition is viewed by the Sasak people and its influence on family harmony and resilience. This research is a qualitative study with data collection instruments in the form of interviews and observations. Determining informants to obtain valid data using purposive sampling, where researchers select informants to be interviewed with the author has set criteria. Based on the observations and interviews, the researcher concludes that the merariq tradition negatively impacts family resilience and harmony if the party doing it is not mentally mature and aged. This is inseparable from their ability to build good household relationships and their maturity when entering the world of marriage through the merariq tradition.
