Paper Title
ARCHITECTURAL MORPHOLOGICAL APPEARANCE OF BALAKKA TREES (PHYLLANTHUSEMBLICA L.) IN BARUMUN TENGAH DISTRICT, PADANG LAWAS REGENCY, NORTH SUMATRA, INDONESIA

Abstract
Abstract - This study aims to determine the kinship of balakka based on tree morphological characters, especially the appearance of stem characters in Barumun Tengah District, Padang Lawas Regency. In India, Palakkad fruit has been widely used as a traditional medicine to treat diabetes, cancer, liver, liver damage, ulcers, and various other diseases. However, in Indonesia, especially in North Sumatra, the potential of this plant has not received attention so the content, cultivation, and even the individual diversity of this balakka itself are unknown. Exploration and characterization must be carried out to protect the balakka germplasm in Padang Lawas Regency. This research was conducted in three villages of Barumun Tengah District, Padang Lawas Regency from January 2023 to April 2023 using survey and descriptive methods. Characterization includes tree morphology parameters using tree dendrology. The results showed that in Barumun Tengah District, 21 balakka accessions had been identified, with the results of the tree morphological characters not showing any variation at all locations. The qualitative parameters of balakka in BTD show a homogeneous characterization (standard deviation = 0) of the character'seader form. Based on the conversion of morphological character scoresUsing the Manhattan coefficient, the genetic dissimilarity values of the 21 balakka accessions ranged from 0.00 to 2.236 or 0% to 223.6% and the average dissimilarity was 1.084 or 108.4%. Abbreviations (if any): Barumun Tengah District (BTD).
