Abstract
Abstract - With the rapid growth of electronic health records, access control becomes an essential issue to ensure patient privacy and data security. Blockchain technology has been identified as a potential solution to address the shortcomings of traditional access control methods in healthcare systems. This paper surveys the current state of the art in blockchain-based access control systems for healthcare systems. The paper analyzes various blockchain-based access control mechanisms and their features, advantages, and limitations. The findings of this paper can be used by researchers, healthcare practitioners, and policymakers to better understand the potential of blockchain technology in addressing the access control challenges in healthcare systems.
