THE IMPACT OF FAMILY STRESSORS ON MAKING ENDS MEET: A STUDY OF CROATIAN YOUNG ADULTS

Abstract
Abstract - Family stressors, such as sudden financial changes, high levels of debt, separation from family members, divorce of parents, can significantly impact a family's ability to make ends meet. These stressors negatively affect parent-child relationships, ultimately impacting family well-being. The ability of youth to make ends meet is crucial for their well-being and future prospects. This research examines the impact family stressors on making ends meet using the sample of young adults in Croatia. The principal component analysis is used to extract the family stressors and making ends meet component. Furthermore, regression model of the impact of family stressors on making ends meet is estimated. The model points to statistically significant negative impact of family stressors on making ends meet. The results of this research should be regarded in the context of the need to provide support to families experiencing financial stressors to mitigate the negative effects on family functioning and well-being.
