Examining the Ambiguous Influence of Social Media on Mental Health & Daily Life: The Double-Edged Sword
Abstract
Abstract - Given the extensive use of social media and the possible hazards resulting from excessive use, this research article analyses how social media use affects mental health and well-being in daily life. A mixed-methods strategy was utilized in the study to gather information from 47 participants between the ages of 18 and 30 through online surveys. Based on the findings, using social media can have a negative impact on one's mental health and wellbeing. For example, it can lead to higher levels of stress, anxiety, and depression as well as lower levels of self-worth and life satisfaction. However, the study also discovered that social media can positively impact social capital and support, both of which enhance further wellbeing. In general, this research emphasizes the varied effects of social media on daily life and the necessity of additional studies and interventions to promote healthy social media use and reduce any unfavorable effects.
