Internet as a Means Of Revelation in Girls of Riyadh (2005) by Rajaa Al-Sanea

Abstract
This paper examines the use of the internet as a means of revelation in the Saudi novelist Rajaa al-Sanea famous novel Girls of Riyadh (2005).It specifically shows how the use of the internet helps female characters in the novel to discuss and share their concerns, struggles and successes as they deal with gendered cultural stereotypes and patriarchal structures in their country. I investigate how the novelist reads cultural changes in her society through a gendered lens. I specifically focus on women’s education, work and agency inside their families and private and public spaces.
