Paper Title
The Future of Sustainable Agriculture: Can Smart Farming Bridge the Gap Between Food Security and Climate Action?
Abstract
Sustainable development in agriculture can be expressed in terms of CO2 emissions reduction and crop yield increase. In this work, smart farming, and other practices such as hydroponics, agrivoltaics, and aeroponics are evaluated with respect to their yield improvement and climate change mitigation capability. It was concluded that smart farming technologies show promising results in terms of food production; however, it remains unclear whether all smart farming practices could simultaneously guarantee both food security and climate change improvement. In addition, a clear trend indicating that simultaneous improvements are feasible is observed when comparing current data with those of earlier practices.
