Designing and Leading an Entrepreneurial Firm

Abstract
The literature status of designing an entrepreneurial firm which includes building an entrepreneurial culture and leadership in the business management field is worth examining, as entrepreneurial leadership and culture are among the crucial aspects that impact firms’ performance. Thus, in the current dynamic and competitive business setting, literature on entrepreneurship and leadership affirm that firms’ leaders and managers, especially of small and medium enterprises, need to adopt entrepreneurial leadership and create an entrepreneurial firm in order to maximize their competitive advantage and improve their overall performance. Managers need to be risk takers who excel in seizing business opportunities, enhance the organizational innovation performance and employees’ creativity by building an entrepreneurial culture. In other words, managers and leaders of business organizations need to be entrepreneurial leaders, working in an entrepreneurial culture to enhance their performance. The traditional corporate mindset has its focus on systems and processes, whereas the entrepreneurial style is more risk oriented. Based on this, it can be concluded that in the current competitive business environment, traditional management practices and culture only are not very effective for administrating and competing in today’s business world. Since entrepreneurial spirit and culture are very important factors in today’s business, the study recommends the adoption of these factors by firms if they want to remain relevant in the business world.
