Influence of Firm Stake Holders’ Pressure and Sustainability Capabilities on Developing Sustainable Supply Chain Management
Abstract
Purpose: The aim of this study is to give an overview of effective leadership style and knowledge management and their importance to improve organizational performance among Private Higher Education Institutions (PHEIs) in Malaysia. Leadership plays a key role in the success of institutions. Effective leaders succeed in transforming institutions, influencing subordinates, and introducing changes. Leaders must know how to implement and use knowledge management in effective ways. Knowledge must be used in the process to achieve sustainability and competitive advantages. Leadership Style and Knowledge Management have become combination factors that ensure the success and sustainability of PHEIs in the market. This is a qualitative study because this study reviews the literature on Leadership Style and Knowledge Management. The roles of Private Higher Education Institutions in Malaysia (PHEIs) in Leadership Style and Knowledge Management were discussed and previous studies were analyzed. The method used to complete this paper was data collection from published journals, conference papers, and books. The results showed that effective leadership style and knowledge management were the main keys to staying competitive in business. Besides, leadership style and knowledge management also could create innovation and ideas that were unique from others. This conceptual paper provides some insights into the issues and challenges of PHEIs in Malaysia. This study may constitute an opportunity for academics to identify relevant measurement instruments and to find an additional basis to achieve a competitive advantage for PHEIs in Malaysia. This study is based on previous literature and further research can be done empirically to understand the nature and power of leadership style and knowledge management in improving organizational performance among PHEIs in Malaysia.
