The Extent of Utilization of E-Learning Technologies by Technology Education Lecturers in Federal University of Technology, Minna, Nigeria
Abstract
The study determined the extent of utilization of e- learning technologies by technology education lecturers in Federal University of Technology, Minna, Nigeria. Three research questions and two hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. A case study research design was adopted for the study. A total of twenty five lecturers were used for the study. The reliability coefficient of the instrument was determined using Cronbach Alpha formula and it was found to be 0.86. The data collected were analyzed using mean, standard deviation and Z- test statistical tool at 0.05 level of significance. The findings of the study include the following: technology education lecturers rarely utilize e- learning technologies such as internet, digital library, youtube,www.pbworks.com, skype etc for teaching. The lecturers used e-learning tools to download materials, images, pictures and diagrams to prepare lecture notes and papers for presentation in conferences. Based on the findings of the study, it is recommended that technology education lecturers should update their knowledge in the area of using e-learning technologies for teaching; the university should make adequate provision for effective internet service for teaching technology education courses.
