The Context of SEL-Applied Competence in Vietnamese Teaching Professional

Abstract
The article refers to the perception of the competence to apply the social-emotional learning (SEL) model in teaching professionals among Vietnamese teachers. By questionnaires on 1,100 Vietnamese primary teachers across the country, we found that current primary teachers were aware of this competence at the average level. The specific result is that teachers have difficulty in recognizing, distinguishing, and applying the concept of social-emotional competence, the SEL model, and the SEL's components into teaching; have not identified the connotation of the term 'SEL's applying competence'. The findings of this study open up opportunities to further study the indicators of the applying competence of the SEL model in teaching in a developing country.
