Marine Pollution Policy Practices By Malaysian Shipping Companies: A Preliminary Study

Abstract
The research examined on the effectiveness of marine pollution policy practices byMalaysian shipping companies. A total number of 50 respondents from shipping companies provided data on their marine pollution policies effective for analysis. A five Likert scale questionnaire was used for this research. The purpose of this research is to analyze on the effectiveness of the marine pollution policy of shipping companies and the law enforcement of Malaysian agencies towards ship owners who uses The Straits of Malacca. This research is also conducted toidentify measures taken by the shipping companies to reduce an oil spills problems and incidents. Results of hierarchical regression indicated that the effectiveness of marine pollution policy are positively and significantly related to shipping company practices.
