Teachers� Preparation Towards Retirement: Evidence From Secondary School Of Kota Samarahan, Sarawak

Abstract
This paper analyses the secondary teachers� preparation towards their retirement. Samples of 150 secondary teachers were randomly chosen from the nine secondary schools in the Kota Samarahan, Sarawak. Using the available assessment instruments, the paper reports interesting findings which are different from other studies due to the economic and social background of Sarawakians than their counterparts in the East Malaysia. The level of preparedness towards retirement is still at a moderate level which calls for more awareness among the teachers. Age and income levels of the employees are important indicators as opposed to gender and education levels which are found not significant. .The findings of this study should help to highlight to Sarawak Education Department in particular, and Malaysian government in general to address the needs for creating more awareness and help among their employees to prepare for their retirement.
