Paper Title
Adrria- Leveraging Technology to Transform The Safety Continuum

Abstract
A major challenge accompanying the increased production and distribution of medicines is the concurrent need for increased monitoring of adverse drug reactions (ADR). This study evaluates the use of a mobile application called ADRRIA in improving the efficiency of ADR reporting by healthcare professionals in the Indian hospital setting. ADRRIA (Adverse drug reaction reporting identification and assessment) is an android based application platform downloadable on mobile phones or accessed through the internet. It has been created to increase the reporting of adverse drug reactions by providing a faster and more user friendly experience for the healthcare personnel who are frequently burdened by the conventional pen and paper documentation of ADRs. In addition to increasing the number of ADR’s being reported, ADRRIA will also collect the real time data in a secure database for further analysis and distribution to regulatory agencies. Once populated, the data can be used to make sense of the bigger picture and to deduce meaningful information. The app works on tens of mobile devices at once, with reports possibly generated simultaneously. Only predetermined administrators have access to the secure data. The app also supports an internal communication system, which can be used for enquires by the medical staff. The app is meant to be used only by the hospital staff- doctors, nurses, interns and not the patient themselves. The app is not available publicly on the Google app store, but distributed individually via email containing the download link. The app respects the medical records privacy laws, and doesn’t record any personal information of the patient. The whole purpose is to leverage technology to transform the safety continuum.
