Model Family Support, Self Efficacy Education and Physical Activity on Quality-of-Life Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients

Abstract
Introduction - Type 2 diabetes mellitus is one of the four non-communicable diseases that are a top priority in the world. The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in declining health and lifestyle, social and economic changes which also have an impact on the quality of life of Type 2 DM. the time of the covid-19 pandemic. Method - This quasi-experimental study was conducted face-to-face on Type 2 DM patients in the peripheral area of Makassar city, originating from 2 primary health care facilities. Total sample 60 respondents, comparison (1:1). Primary data includes general characteristics and quality of life measured using the WHOQOL BREFF instrument. Test Statistics are used to present the general characteristics of the respondents and the Test of homogeneity of variance with One Way Anova Test. Results - Quality of life showed a significant increase p = 0.000 (p <0.05) in the psychological domain with a pre-test 27.4±4.34 an increase in the post-test 40.73±7.92 and the social domain at the pre-test 31.13 ±5.76 increased at post-test to 43.27±10.24 in the intervention group. The psychological domain of respondents at the post-test was higher in the intervention group, namely 40.73±7.92 than the control group, namely 37.8±8.40 with p value = 0.034 (p<0.05). The social domain at the post-test was higher in the intervention group, namely 43.27±10.24 than the control group, namely 38.33±10.15, with p value = 0.042 (p<0.05). The psychic domain showed a higher percentage of 49% in the intervention group while the control group was 39%, a difference of 10%. Conclusion - There was a significant increase in the psychological domain and the social domain of the quality of life of Type 2 DM patients after the intervention of the family support program model, self-efficacy education and physical activity.
