Paper Title
Harmonics Assessment on Low Voltage Network Photovoltaic Inverter using ETAP Power Station 20.5.0
Abstract
In the operation of an on-grid photovoltaic, the inverter's role in converting DC to AC is essential. However, the operation of inverter can cause harmonics in the system. Past research has done harmonics assessments by on-site measurement and mathematical modeling. This research replaces on-site measurements with ETAP Power Station 20.5 simulation. Every PV inverter is tested at unity and 0.85 power factor. In both operation settings, the result observed is the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) which is then compared to the result from mathematical analysis. In testing the effect of irradiance level on power factor, the value of power factor starts to rise at an irradiance level of 320 W/m2 and stabilize at 350 W/m2 per its inverter generation setting. This condition also happens in the relation between irradiance level and THDi, where on small irradiance level, the value of THDi is immense and starts to drop and stabilize at 320 W/m2 irradiance. In power factor and THDi to PACT/PNOM mathematical calculation, the graphics produced a valid relation to the ETAP Power Station simulation result. The value of THD ultimately depends on the load level of the inverter (PACT/PNOM). the experiment of inverter on photovoltaics in ETAP Power Station by characterizing conditions on mathematical equation can be used as a reference for measuring power factor and THDi in PV-integrated power system planning.
