Inclusive Communication Strategies Adopted by Organizations in India for LGBTQ Community

Abstract
The purpose of this research is to understand the inclusive and accommodative communication strategies undertaken by workplaces in India to advance the LGBTQ community using the theoretical lens of Communication Accommodation Theory. The authors used text analytics to examine the discourses posted on the official LinkedIn pages of top 21 employers in the India workplace Equality Index, 2020. NVIVO, a qualitative research program was used to organize, query, and analyze the data. Multiple themes emerged highlighting the common inclusive and accommodative communication strategies used by these organizations. Themes include gaining more awareness and knowledge about the community, knowing the vocabulary and gendered pronouns, keeping mind bias free consciously, showing empathy while communicating with or for the community and creating an inclusive work environment.
