Project Technological Capacity and Project Outcomes: The Moderating Role of Team Creativity

Abstract
Extensive research in the creativity and innovation literature develops creativity models and approaches to promote high-quality creativity and innovation and thereby, improving organizational performance. However, relatively few explore how team creativity affects project performance. In this study, our analysis via the bootstrap-based method and PROCESS shows that the relationship between project technological capacity and project performance is significantly stronger when team creativity is higher. The finding indicates that team creativity magnifies the potential project performance through team creativity. The finding also reveals that team creativity negatively moderates the relationship between project technological capacity and project performance. This suggests that the positive relationship between project technological capacity and project performance becomes stronger when team creativity weakens. A possible explanation of this negative moderation is that project technological capacity and team creativity do not have a linear relationship; rather it is curvilinear. Future research should clarify this negative moderating influence of team creativity. Keywords - Project Management, Project Performance, Creativity, Project Technological Capacity.
