NQO1 Enzyme Activity of Thunbergia Laurifolia Lindl., (Rang Chuet) Crude Extract in HepG2 Cells

Abstract
Thai traditional medicine, the ThunbergialuarifoliaLinld(Rang Chuet) consists of various bioactive compounds involved in detoxification. This research aims to investigatethe detoxification capacities of Rang Chuet crude extract by NQO1 enzyme activity induction in HepG2 cells. The Rang Chuet leaf powder was extracted in chloroform utilizing the Soxhlet method. Then the Rang Chuet crude extract was determined the total chlorophylls, yield extract, total phenolic contents(TPC), and total flavonoid contents(TFC).In addition, the detoxification properties of crude extract was evaluated with NQO1 enzyme activity induction in Hep G2 cells. The results showed that the Rang Chuet crude extract induced detoxification that provided 3.68 fold of NQO1 activity. Furthermore, the total chlorophylls, yield percentage of extract, TPC, and TFC was 2.682 ± 0.125 mg/g raw materials, 15.3±0.1%, 112.22±0.367mg/g, and 363.776±3.491 mg/g extract, respectively. In conclusion, Rang Chuet crude extract which induced with NQO1 enzyme activity could be further development for functional food ingredients.
