Binary Logistic Regression Analysis to Determine the Significant Factors Associated with the Purchase of Counterfeit Goods in the E-commerce Space

Abstract
Besetting in an increased number of industries, pirated and counterfeit goods account for as much as 3.3% of worldwide trade volume (OECD, 2016). To date, theoretical and empirical research on the global illicit flow of counterfeit goods, particularly from the standpoint of the booming Internet technology and platform economy, remains at its embryonic stage. The goal of this research is not to render an exhaustive account of such prodigy, but rather to furnish insights into the best, albeit limited, data sources on the subject. This author will also identify prevailing research disparities and highlight information gaps that can be addressed in future studies.
