Exploratory Factor Analysis of Religiosity, Attitude and Student’s Intention Towards Educational Loan Repayment

Abstract
Educational loan repayment is declining since the last decades. It is crucial to explore further on this matter, particularly from the religiosity, attitude, and intention factors. Therefore, this study aims to assess the validity and reliability of the Bukhari Religiosity Scale Instrument and Student Attitude Towards Educational Loan Repayment(SATLR) to examine these factors. This quantitative study usesthe survey data collection method. The sampleinvolved a total of 150 undergraduate Muslim students from Universiti Utara Malaysia, which also borrowers from National Higher Education Fund Corporation (NHEFC), Malaysia. Data were analyzed using Statistical Package of Social Science (SPSS) version 22.0. The reliability value of the instruments for measuring religiosity, attitude, and intention exceeds a minimum Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.7 and met the set conditions. The result of the Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) showed that Bukhari Religiosity Scale was represented by 17 items (no item was removed) and Student Attitude Towards Educational Loan Repayment(two itemswere removed from attitude measurements of 19 items) and intentions of 10 items (no item was removed). Overall, the result indicates that this instrument is suitable for the actual research among NHEFC borrowers. The revised instruments can be used for the main study to test the relationships between these constructs. The proposed instruments can also be used for any research related to the topics as far as culturally and religiously appropriate.
