The Interaction between the Written Word and the Brain

Abstract
The written word for an individual could be anything from a literary work to a board pasted on a wall to social media messages. The written word in this study article will focus only on literary works. In recent decades literary criticism has found new venues to evaluate what goes on between a text and its reader. The question of why a text transports the reader to a different sphere has been a frequently asked question. One way of answering this question requires an understanding of the human brain. How does human brain deal with the written word and how it responds to written text has been the study of neurology and psychology and aesthetics which coined a new term neuroaesthetics? This article will try to review some of the recent work conducted in neuroaesthetics and try to focus on the reader and author.
