Paper Title
Seismic Performance of RC Framed Vertically Irregular Buildings
Abstract
The performance of a multi-story RC framed building during the earth quake depends on strength, stiffness, and mass in both horizontal and vertical direction of the building. In multi storied building the ground motion initiates at the structural weakness, those weakness may be produced by discontinuities in mass, strength or stiffness between the adjoining stories. This present study shows the performance and behavior of regular and vertically irregular RC building frame under earthquake motion. In this thesis Five different types of buildings frames are taken; one regular building and four vertically irregular building frames of G+15 building configurations, all the building frames are modelled and analyzed ETAB2018 software. Various seismic responses like Drift ratio, Story displacement, Base shear and over turning moment are obtained, from seismic analysis according to code IS 1893-2002 part1, seismic zone 3 and medium soil are taken for all the cases in this study. By comparing the obtained results are considered the seismically critical configurations and buildings which can perform better under seismic loading conditions are identified.
