Problem-Oriented Project-Based Learning as Learning Strategy for Enhancement Logical Thinking Abilities in College Students

Abstract
The purposes of this study were to investigate how problem-oriented project-based learning (POPBL) approach affect the logical thinking abilities in college students and to describe the difference of logical thinking abilitiesacross gender and academic discipline. Participants included with 230 students who enrolled the logical thinking course. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) and t-test were used to analyze the difference of logical thinking abilitiesas well as descriptive statistics was used to describe the effect of problem-oriented project-based learning (POPBL) approach in student’s logical thinking abilities. Result revealed thatcollege students’ logical thinking abilities were significantly higher than the 75 percent criteria. For describing the difference of logical thinking abilitiesacross gender and academic discipline, the finding showed that male students’ logical thinking abilities were significantly higher than female. However, students’ logical thinking abilities were not significantlydifference across academic discipline in social science.
