Paper Title
The Compound Project: Green Technologies in Support of The Mitigation of The Impacts of Compound Heat and Drought Events

Abstract
Traditional climate risk assessment typically considers a single extreme event, a fact that leads to the underestimation of risks, as the physical mechanisms and drivers of such events are often interdependent (Zscheischler et al., 2018). The principal aim of the COMPOUND project is to assess the compound effect of droughts and heatwaves (CDHW) over the Southeastern Mediterranean in view of the selection of the most appropriate green technologies for the mitigation of its impacts. In this paper the main objectives and characteristics of the COMPOUND project are presented along with a discussion on the potential to convert climate information on the compound effect of heatwaves and droughts into a climate service in support of mitigation plans Keywords - Compound Heat and Drought Events, Green Technologies, Mitigation
