THE ROLE OF HERBAL MEDICINE AND PHYTOTHERAPEUTIC PREPARATIONSON PREVENTING AND CURING CANCER

Abstract
Introduction: Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, so preventing and curing it is always a challenge. Cancer is knownas abnormal cell growth with the potential to invade or spread to other parts of the body. Causes of cancer can be: unhealthy food, stress, hormonal disorders, environmental factors, lack of physical activity etc. This pathology is rarely caused by a particular factor, but it comes as a result of combination of all above. The treatment of cancer include: surgery, radiation therapy, herbal medicines and conventional medicines. Aim of the study: The recognition of herbal medicines that are recently used to prevent and cure cancer. Materials and Methods: Review of studies and facts that are published by worldwide organisations as (WHO, FDA etc) about herbal medicine. Results: Many of the chemotherapies used to fight cancer in modern medicine were developed from natural substances. Some studies have shown that 6 in10 people with cancer, use herbal remedies during conventional cancer treatments like: Essiac tea, Echinacea, Hypericum perforatum, Camellia sinensis, Zingiberisofficinalis, cannabis etc. Conclusions: Phytotherapy has an important roleon preventing,treating and improving the quality of life of patients who suffer from cancer, so it is importante to note that herbal medicine products and phyto therapeutic preparations is the key goals for improving success of therapy.
