The Beneficial Role of Vitamin D3 Supplementation on Metabolic Syndrome Indices

Abstract
Metabolic syndrome (MS) is a world widely health problem described as a combination of insulin resistance, obesity, hypertension, type two diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and dyslipidemia which increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. Healthy lifestyle is an important way to avoiding the risk of MS abnormalities. Vitamin D is a fat soluble and considered as one of the factors that have favorable effect on MS indices.The aim of the present research was to discussthe beneficial effect of Vitamin D supplementation on MS disorders. During the period of 3 months, 36 rats were divided into 3 groups: control group, MS group and MS treated with vitamin D group. Body mass index (BMI) and blood pressure were recorded weekly.Furthermore, blood samples were withdrawn to assess the levels of glucose, insulin and lipids. The results showed a significant enhanced in mentioned MS parameters whereas, no significant different in BMI.In conclusion, the results of this study had identified the role ofVit-Dsupplementationin reduction ofMetS abnormalities.
