Private Equity Opportunities for Retail Investors in the European Union

Abstract
Retail investors are more and more interested in investing in private equity. However, current regulations limit their ability to access private equity investments. These investments are open primarily to sophisticated or professional investors such as banks, funds of funds, and others. The researcher attempts to identify possibilities of private equity for retail investors within selected investment structures in the European Union and highlights specific investor protection institutions to potentially cover the main risks for retail investors associated with investing in private equity through these structures.
