Strategic HRM Approaches as Mediators to Change Management in the Tourism Industry: Potential and Prospects for Future Research

Abstract
Tourism is a sector where human resources have an important role. This means human resources management (HRM) has an important role for the sustainability of tourist businesses. Besides that, it is important to consider the fact that tourism is a sector which faces today several challenges such as the shift from mass tourism to sustainability and the post Covid-19 environment. This means that the tourist companies must be well prepared for any kind of changes, programmed or not. Hence, change management is part of their routine so to ensure the effectiveness of their Human capital. For this reason, this literature review aims to bring together SHRM with change management. The conclusion of this paper is that there is lot of space for research on this field which will require the creation of an instrument of research that will contribute on this effort. Hence, References’s [1] instrument on assessing SHRM combined with [2] version of Readiness to Change Scale (RCS) can be the basis of a future research on this field.
