A New Innovation Integration Model: Fuyao Glass Industry Group Co. Ltd Case

Abstract
We develop a new innovation integration model, describing an innovation style that requires a firm to integrate innovation simultaneously across all organizational levels. This model accommodates both bottom-up and top-down approaches avoiding their weaknesses, places process innovation as the centerpiece, and includes both horizontal and vertical integration. The literature address either horizontal or vertical integration but not both together, and there is a lack of study across multiple organization levels in one model. We developed the model after studying a Chinese company - Fuyao Glass Industry Group. We demonstrate how the firms have adopted an approach, which places process innovation as the centerpiece in alignment with other innovation activities such as technology innovation, product innovation, and service innovation and works across various organizational levels. This assists the firm to identify market needs, develop individual/company specific indigenous innovation capabilities, and become a global innovation leader.
