Paper Title
Economic Analysis of Feeding Sugarcane Trash based Total Mixed Ration on Performance of Narisuwarna X Kenguri - F1 Sheep
Abstract
An experiment was conducted for the duration of 42 days with fifteen Narisuwarna X Kenguri F1 sheep divided into Six groups of five lambs each. Each group was randomly allotted to one of the six dietary treatments in a completely randomized design. Standard managemental care like deworming, vaccination etc.,was under taken in stall fed condition. Sugarcane trash was procured, chaffed and ground to pass through 10mm sieve and used for preparation of total mixed ration of various roughage: concentrate ratios viz., 80:20, 70:30, 60:40, 50:50, 40:60 and 30:70. The animals were fed as per ICAR (2013) requirements. The total variable cost of lambs, labour, roughage, concentrate and miscellaneous cost per animal was 7149, 7140, 7243, 7565, 7566 and 7602 rupees in T-1,T-2, T-3, T-4,T-5 and T-6 respectively. The revenue generated from sales of lamb and manure per animal was 8248, 8149, 8921, 9383, 9503 and 9576 rupees in T-1, T-2, T-3, T-4 T-5 and T-6 respectively. The benefit cost ratio was 1.15, 1.14, 1.23, 1.24, 1.26 and 1.26 in T-1, T-2, T-3, T-4, T-5 and T-6 respectively. Therefore it is concluded that feeding of ad libitumtotal mixed ration with roughage concentrate ratio of 60:40, 50:50 to 40: 60 improved body weight gain and observed better economic returns in Narisuwarna X Kenguri F1 sheep.
